Alun Leach Jones was born in the U.K. in 1937, of Welsh parentage and spent his childhood in the village of Glasfryn , North Wales . Leach - Jones moved to Australia in 1960 and lives and now works and lives in Sydney .
Since his first one-man exhibition in 1964 he has had over seventy solo exhibitions within Australia as well as shows in Auckland , Kuala Lumpur , New Delhi , Berlin , Swansea , London and New York . He has had seven solo exhibitions in New York since 1983.

Alun Leach - Jones was elected an Honorary Life Fellow of the Royal Society of Painter - Printmakers, London .
A monograph on Leach - Jones was published by Craftsman House, Sydney in 1988. Revised second edition published 1999. A monograph of drawings was published in 1998.
