Living in this landscape, watching it, and breathing in the ocean is exhilarating. I can taste the salty air, even dream about it and then retreat to the studio to continue the ongoing conversation in paint I have been having for over twenty years.
I have no time for meditation. Surfing in all seasons and weathers is my meditation. Each year new ways of seeing and painting are revealed. At times it is as though a screen has been removed and I suddenly see something clearly for the first time, something I have been looking at for decades. Then one day looking at an old painting I find I have forgotten as much as I have learned. Old ideas are reborn and woven with the new. The conversation continues.
